Buy Our Book!

Time to make millions of dollars. Here is the title- CounterCultural Literacy: What Every Parent Should Know. It is sure to be a real cash cow considering we would have to release a new edition every three months or so. I'm sure there are millions of parents out there that are trying to figure out that Emo fad. I don't know about you but I'm emotional enough already; I don't need My Chemical Romance pushing me over the edge. As a self proclaimed music expert I think the Emo today is garbage. If they want Emo they need to check out the old school Emo- and nothing beats The Cure.

I love the 80s! (Another marketing idea that was overplayed). But if you want to do some silly 80s reminiscing, check out this myspace - totally dedicated to a tribute to the 80s this month: http://www.myspace.com/dekkerdreyer
It is my husband's best friend, and yes, he has too much time on his hands!

Actually, that's not too bad of an idea for a book. Every time I go to the bookstore, I find books that I can't believe got published and am even more shocked that people buy them. On the other hand, this book idea would actually help parents and teachers alike - maybe it could be sold as a book with a yearly subscription to a quarterly newsletter!

It might even help students - my students don't even know what "emo" means. They throw the word around so much, but then openly question what it is. It is going to be one of those words that is used to describe so much that it doesn't mean anything anymore. By the way, I'm starting to keep my own dictionary of new words that I learn from the kids - they love the idea that they are teaching me new "words."

I agree with you, guys. I think this is a good idea of a book with a quarterly update. I have to read several editions past. I am a sure buyer! I am so no hip that it's pathetic!

A word of advice: be a little careful what you label garbage. As for me, I've seen too many trends in music rejected, then embraced to make negative judgments. I find that there's almost always some music of interest in every new trend.

You are right. I might have been a little hasty. I revise my statement to everything I have heard so far from the genre is garbage. I'm sure something interesting will come along.
