weekly update

Now I'm rolling. I'm making an interactive PowerPoint quiz, planning a road trip to Disney from some little town in Idaho, and reading some poetry and "traditional literature". No problem, I'll just put the wife and kids on hold for a few weeks.

I just took a roast out of the freezer. I plan on cooking it on Sunday. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I'm listening to David J. I know, you never heard of him.

Big plans, well big plans for the blog anyway. "My top ten books"
It isn't the traditional top 10 list. It is a top 10 list that represents the best of children's and young adult literature from the past 6 years. I'll be experiencing some new things. We'll see how it goes.

I know it isn't Children's Lit, but since you seem to like these lists, here's an interesting one prepared by The Rand Corporation - 50 books on preparing for the future :

Since you will soon be a media person, you might be interested in two books I like by Seattle librarian, Nancy Pearl, called Book Lust and More Book Lust. In a very entertaining fashion, she lists her favorite reads by topic or theme. In each book, she ends up with about a thousand well-thought-out suggestions, including some for kids or young adults.
